Taipei CYCLE’08 opens new world of cycle sourcing at soon-to-open TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall

July 24th TAITRA, Taipei – Not only will the next Taipei CYCLE 2008 take the industry to new fresh untouched ground, it will also take place in a newly opened purpose designed exhibition hall — only one factor that reflects the dynamics and transition sweeping the industry.

This massive endeavor that unfolds March 13th to 16th highlights the multi-faceted industry of whole cycles and parts that are supply a world increasingly demanding common sense solutions to avoid fossil fuels, save money, and lose weight. For 21 year this event has built a glowing reputation for being the best and most reliable sourcing center by linking buyers to the multi-fibrous networks of producers.

The event, also known as the Taipei International Cycle Show is co-organized by TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) and the Taiwan Bicycle Exporters’ Association (TBEA).

Much of the press will be focused on Taipei CYCLE 2008 since it will be the first ever event to be held at the new TWTC Nangang Exhibition Center. And all efforts will be on providing buyers, from both home and abroad, with top quality service and facilities.

“Taiwan’s manufacturers are extremely creative and flexible in R&D, production, and marketing and that Taiwan really deserves the good reputation of being the international procurement center for the bicycle industry.”

- John Burke, President, Trek Bikes

The 2008 event builds upon unprecedented growth at the 2007 show. That’s where 694 domestic and international manufacturers used 2,299 booths, a 6% increase over 2006. Exhibiting international enterprises came from 30 countries and regions, including the USA, Italy, Japan, Hong Kong, France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Australia. World-famous manufacturers like Giant, Merida, Ideal, Kenda, SRAM, MAXXIS, Shimano, TOPEAK, SCOTT, Campagnolo, Continental, SAPIM, and Accell introduced their latest-developed products.

That exhibition drew more than 45,000 domestic and international buyers, among who were 3,939 international buyers, an increase by 11% compared to the previous year. The number of buyers from the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, and Latin America surged significantly.

Although the show was a success, it was limited by available space at the TWTC Exhibition Hall, where many domestic and international manufacturers had to be turned away. With the Nangang Exhibition Hall doubling current floor space, the industry is now upbeat that next spring will offer the broadest and best show yet.

The 2008 show will unfold across three sections, namely Complete Bicycles, Electric Bicycles and Bicycle Components & Parts. The organizer will also facilitate several trade meetings and hold other activities during the exhibition, including the Tour de Taiwan, Outdoor Test Riding, the Winners of Innovation Ceremony, the Innovative Products Exhibition, Industrial Seminars, International Bicycle Design Competition, Global Bicycle Forum on Industry Growth and Market Trends and Taiwan Cycle Night.

Furthermore, to increase the contact between domestic/international bicycle manufacturers and buyers from related industries and to further maximize the business opportunities, the organizer plans to hold the “Taipei International Sporting Goods Show” simultaneously at Exhibition Hall 1 of the World Trade Center during “Taipei Cycle 2008”.

By jointly hosting these two shows TAITRA will open the broadest trade window yet, an extensive stage of prospects and opportunity that will stretch to the furthest corners of the bicycle industry.
